Heut triumphieret Gottes Sohn. Kaspar Stolzhagen* (1550-1594).  This joyful Easter hymn, filled with double ‘Halleluja’s, comes from Stolzhagen’s Kinderspiegel, oder Hauszucht und Tischbüchlein. Wie die Eltern mit den Kindern vor und nach Essens Abendes und Morgens singen und beten sollen (Eisleben, 1591), a hymnbook for children and adults to use daily. In JJ, p. 1648, James Mearns* thought the hymn ‘may possibly be’ by Stolzhagen, but he is given as the author in EG (109).  It was entitled ‘Ein Triumphlied von der Auferstehung Jesu Christi’ (‘A Triumphal Hymn on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ’).
